I'm on a mission this year.
I want to detox my body and declutter my life.
I want to start on the journey of nourishing my body with the right kinds of foods, and hopefully, along with that, lose most if not all of the excess weight I have added over the last few years. I want to eliminate as many toxins and chemicals as I can from body and skin care products as well as all those non-stick surface and plastics lurking in the cupboard.
And I just want to simplify life really. Have less stuff. I just want things in the cupboard that we use all the time rather than excess. My cupboards are usually chock full of the containers and pots and pans that never see the light of day. There is no point them being there taking up space and cluttering my life.
So yesterday I began. First on the list was the plastics cupboard and then the pots and pans cupboard. I now have a mound of things to get rid of, and I will post them on my local freecycle network so that at least some of them can find a new use rather than going to the trash.
My cupboards now look a little like this. I can actually see what we have. And nothing falls out when I open the door!
If you want to embark on a similar mission and want to share photos along the way of how you are detoxing or decluttering, would love it if you could use the hashtag #detoxdeclutter2013 on Instagram and I'll come take a look. I'll be sharing my photos that way too. Or share your blog post in the comments below. I'd love to hear about it.

oh cool! i have been going through this process for a couple of years now, following a seachange. Next in my sights is my pantry. Will join in at instagram when I get to it :)sarah
ReplyDeleteAh a seachange! I'd love me one of those too. Good luck with your pantry. Mine is due soon as well. Can't wait to see your pics on instagram!
DeleteGo Virginia Go! It is fantastic to let things go, I always feel lighter in so many ways. If you're looking for more inspiration/information I highly recommend Cyndi O'Meara's ebook 21 day weight loss get healthy program it is a great introduction into improving nutrition, has delicious family friendly recipes and a chapter on decluttering your house. I look forward to your detoxing decluttering year x
ReplyDeleteIt feels amazing Nikki! It's like a burden is lifted every time I off load 'stuff'. It's amazing how much your surroundings can affect your mood. I will check out the ebook definitely. I have all the head knowledge but just lacking that final surge of energy to get the ball roll with my health 100% at the moment. I need to get on with it!!
DeleteHahaha, I know EXACTLY what you mean because I am on a similar mission with the crap in my kitchen, although I think it may not be possible for me to ever complete this mission.
ReplyDeleteI see your ice cube trays have gone in the second pic! Haha, what is it with those things? I too have about a million of them and never seem to use them.
Hi Sharnee, they are actually shots of two different cupboards. The first is the plastics/baking one and the second the pots/pans one. So ice cube trays are still there! We don't use them much though. Only have the two but I do like them for when we need ice. The lids are good to keep smells out and stopping spilling water everywhere when you fill them up. But I'd love to get some of the old school aluminium ones too!
DeleteOh doh! Different cupboards makes sense! Ignore me!
DeleteI'd be scared of metal ice trays, my fingers would stick to them! (maybe)
Sounds good lovely one. I know a good place for a seachange ...
