with Giddy Giddy hair clips. They are oh so cute!

I bought some yesterday to start off Z's collection now that her hair is just long enough to put clips into. I reeeeeeeally wanted to get one of the hair clip holders like the ones above, as well, but they were pretty expensive (for what they are), and I thought I could probably whip something up myself eventually and in the meantime I will just pop all her clips into her littlest suitcase on her shelf.

Here is the little lady today with one in her hair.

drool...chocolate peanut butter cake

oh my goodness!

how yummy does this look. This has to go on my 'must make' list. I'm a BIG fan of peanut butter and chocolate together. Lindt even do a Lindt ball in this flavour combination now and it's definitely my favourite.

to drink coffee and eat proper food again. I was *lucky* enough to get gastro off my little boy on Friday. Hubby and I were so sick my mum had to take the day off work to come and take the kids away, as we were not even close to capable of looking after them. Thankfully, my stomach is slowly heading back to normal today. I had my first coffee this morning.....I might still pay for it later but it was good anyway.

it's party time

Tuesday, September 22, 2009

Well, not quite yet.

Miss Z will be turning 1 in a few weeks time and I'm organising a little garden party for just our immediate family to celebrate.

I've ordered the above gorgeous things from this place. I'll be sending out the invites tomorrow and next on my list is to start planning the bbq lunch menu and of course the cupcakes.....am undecided on what to do there yet. I might have to get some recipe ideas from The Red Deer herself! (Hint, hint, nudge, nudge Alicia!! Oh and I wish you lived in Sydney!!)

I'll also be making up some little party bags for Z's cousins who will be coming. I've got pink, white and turquoise ones, with gift tags and ribbon to tie. They should look really sweet.

So stay tuned for party developments. I can't wait to take some pics of the actual day itself. We will finally be making use of our backyard and the new outdoor furniture and bbq we just bought!

Now all I need is the perfect garden party birthday dress.....any great suggestions?

oh dear

Sick Boy & Guard Dog

Image: sick boy & guard dog

I have a sick little boy today. He was up a lot of the night throwing up. I think it's just something dodgy he ate rather than gastro. At least I hope so anyway. I usually work from home today and my mum looks after him. Thankfully she still came over this morning to occupy him in the backyard for a little while so I could still do some work. He has gone to her house now for a little sleep and a bath. I'll be picking him up shortly.

I hate seeing him sick like he was last night. He doesn't know what's hit him and it's still a bit frightening for him I think. Hope he has a good night tonight.

“Just living is not enough... One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.”
Hans Christian Andersen

I found this great quote on Flickr this morning along with this photo and agree wholeheartedly with it! I'm going to start this week off positively and try to enjoy the simple things around me - my garden, the sunshine and seeing my children smile.

sleeping baby

After a slightly rocky start, all is quiet in this house at the moment.

A little late night vanilla Magnum for me and then I'm off to bed with Mamamia. Fingers crossed for a sound night's sleep for this mama!

hip hip hooray

What a way to start the day! I just found out that I won this giveaway. Can't wait for my magazine to arrive now so I can get some cooking inspiration.

Hopefully I can make someone else's day here too. My Handmade Home giveaway winner is Cat! Cat, please contact me with your postal address so I can send you your signed copy of the book asap!!

Thankyou to all those who left me lovely comments to cheer me up. They all really made my week. Special mention to Shan who made me laugh out loud and spill coffee everywhere with her comment!! Thanks for that! My week has improved a little and it's onwards and upwards hopefully. Josh stayed overnight at his grandma's house last night to give me a wee break so it's back to normal parenting transmission tonight. Wish me luck!

Happy Wednesday. xo

I saw this singer/songwriter last night at the Lior show and she played this tune. I just loved it, the lyrics are wonderful!

Enjoy.

mmm have been a bit AWOL the last few days. Been busy with the two little munchkins. Will be back to blog later about my little life and maybe to share a few pics but for now just wanted to say good morning, hello new week and share a few giveaways.

Alicia at The Red Deer is having a great giveaway at the moment to celebrate having 100 followers. There is some gorgeous stationary up for grabs. Go and check out her blog and enter the giveaway!

And just a little reminder about my Handmade Home giveaway....a winner will be drawn on Wednesday so get your entries in now. I've already been left some lovely comments which have really lifted my spirits and my week got a lot better and so I'm going into this week with better vibes about the munchkins sleeping this week, and a bit more sleep under MY belt.

Seeing Lior in concert last night helped too. xo

I know. I've got issues.....

Anyway, I've been looking for things for Josh to play with that can help his little mind grow. He's very much into imagination and making up little stories and pretend play at the moment. I've seen him play with a dollhouse before (with his cars in it, mind you?) and thought this would be great to get, as Zoe will get a lot of use out of it too.

So off to the Hip Infant I went and bought this little doll house. My other pre-requisite was that I didn't want anything that would take up too much space and it had to be wooden.

Cute huh?

Then while I was there I found this wooden bead threading toy, so I had to have that too. Thought it would be good for his little fine motor skills.

And lastly, I dropped into a local toy store today while Zoe and I went for a walk out in the sunshine, and I bought this fantastic Automoblox car. Josh has one of these already at my mums place and he loves it. You can pull it apart and rebuild it, and then play with it! If you have a boy, you MUST get one of these. They are expensive but SO worth it in my opinion.

Phew! My work for the day is done.....

Image: What's On Sydney

I'm going to Lior's final Sydney Shadows & Light show before he heads off to record another album and go overseas. I'm so excited. I went to this show at the Opera House a few months ago and it was brilliant. He is doing some encore performances at the Wharf Theatre and Sunday is the last night. Yay!

it's tuesday and i can't wait...

...to finally be rid of the baby fat acquired from having my two little ones. I can't get disciplined at the moment nor do I have the will power to do it as I'm living on little sleep and time to myself.

*sigh* I just want to fit into the clothes in my wardrobe. At the moment I think I have about 2 outfits I can wear.

On the upside, I can't wait to continue reading Mia's book. Started last night and wouldn't have put it down except that my eyelids kept closing on me!

And all things nice.

Isn't this the sweetest thing ever? It's a little pillow set from nooshka. I think it would look great in a little girls room with a cute little white bed and fresh white sheets. Mmmm I might have to save up for this one for Zoe. It's also Australian made which I love, and she also makes adorable little dolls. You can check out the nooshka blog here too.

happy fathers day

Josh and Zoe (ie. me!) got their daddy this beautiful keyring from Lovestamp. Well it looks like this one but obviously has our names on it. It's all beautifully wrapped so I couldn't take a photo of it. We also got him this mini memory card from Kikki K. Will have to get the kids to help me fill it in before Sunday!

I still have to organise something for my dad and FIL....off to browse online now.

What's your dad getting for fathers day?

How cool is this mug! While I'm not really a huge Jane Austen fan I have a couple of friends who are. So for their birthdays coming up I have bought this mug and also the Darcy Proposal mug. One of my friends may very well be on the receiving end of a proposal some time soon, and how cute would it be if the gent in question used the proposal mug to do so?

anyone for tea?

Don't forget to enter my giveaway. Up for grabs is a cute little felt cupcake and tea bag for your little person to play tea parties with!

Look out for a picture of Josh playing with the tea set on their blog very soon!

love a bargain

Tuesday, September 1, 2009

I don't usually go op-shopping very often these days. It's a bit hard to navigate through the mostly narrow aisles with a pram and a toddler on the loose. Last week, I was without children ever so briefly and I made a quick visit to the local Vinnes store and found myself this bargain! A gorgeous little doll cradle for $10. I knew straight away it would be a hit in our house. Josh already likes to put the dolls to bed (as well as attempt to get in there himself! very funny!) and I'm sure Zoe will love it too once she's old enough.

I need to go op-shopping more often.

It's Tuesday and I can't wait....

A pinch and a punch for the first of the spring months!
