Postman Pat where have you been all my life.....

Thursday, July 30, 2009

Josh has only just recently come across Postman Pat (not sure where we have been hiding). It must have come on the ABC last week and he was mesmorised. I recorded it thankfully and then thought I would set up a series link to record more episodes, only to discover that the episode I recorded was the last one. Now we have a DVD. He has been sooooo cute singing the song to me, even telling me what the next lyrics are when I forget. He also found a cosmetic bag of mine, emptied it and is using it to make his own special deliveries. My favourite thing is the way he says 'Postman Pat'. He says 'Postman' just like the British man sings the opening jingle, with a long British sounding 'oh' sort of like 'Po(h)stman'. Brings a smile to my face everytime he says 'More Postman Pat please'.

Other news, we have all been sick for the last few weeks. Just as Zoe's sleep was improving again, sickness through everything out again. I'm desperately hoping for a good night sleep tonight.

On Sunday we had Zoe's dedication. Here is my little cherub and I on the day. She wore the christening gown that her dad, aunties and cousins all wore.

And if it isn't children waking me up at night, it's now Carpel Tunnel Syndrome waking me. Have been going to physio to help with it and now I have to wear wrist splints at night to hopefully get rid of it.

Anyway, back to Postman Pat. Thankyou Pat for helping keep an active little toddler occupied while I attend to a needy 10 month old. I wish I'd found you earlier.

The Red Deer blog birthday giveaway!

Friday, July 17, 2009

One of my favourite blogs is The Red Deer which has just turned one so the lovely Alicia is having a giveaway. And a very yummy one at that! Check out the giveaway details here as well as her A-Z weekly cupcake challenges! Such a great idea, and readers get to vote each week to help Alicia decide what to bake. It always leaves my mouth watering looking at all those cupcakes!!

Sick........

I have a sick toddler here. Took him to the doctors today. He has had a run of gastro and now cold/flu. Now I have the start of a sore throat. We are still in the midst of unpacking from our move and I'm completely and utterly exhausted. Don't have the energy to update or blog much at the moment.......

Fifteen facts......

This is the latest Blog This challenge..not sure how this will turn out as I find it sooooo hard thinking about myself this much.

Here we go....

1. I have just moved house. Well, from a 3 bedroom, mid-floor unit to a house. On level ground. You don't know how exciting and liberating that is as a mother of a toddler and a baby. I really really really don't miss the stairs I used to have to tackle each day or the door to our lockup garage.

2. I long for the day of being able to sleep in longer stretches of 3 hours or more. Miss Z has teased me these last few nights with sleeping through, and I realised how foreign it felt that she didn't wake me over night. I'm not getting my hopes up though. Her 'phase' of bad night sleeping has been going for about, oh, the last 5 months. Why would she stop now? (Though I really am hoping she has finally grown out of night waking...!)

3. I often feel overwhelmed and over run. I am currently a full time mother, work 1 day a week, run our household, and have just managed the whole process of selling our unit, buying our house, moving house. I am now in the middle of End of Financial Year work frenzy. Who moves house in the last week of June when they work in accounts??

4. I have a habit of rambling too much, especially when tired! (See points 1-3 above.)

5. I'm addicted to sweet things. If I don't have at least one chocolate/cake/ice-cream a day, I think I would explode ;)

6. I LOVE my two little ones to bits, even though they challenge me all the time!

7. I love taking long hot showers (even when the water crisis happened). It's one of my only 'me' times and where I can truly relax.

8. I actually love grocery shopping too. As with point 7, it's 'me' time for me, as I never do it with my children. I love taking my time, and I'm a bit of a label reader, so groceries always take me a while.....

9. I would love to be super organised, and have a neat and tidy house. Now that I am in a house with a bit more space than I have ever had, I'm really hoping I can achieve this dream!

10. I can't wait to put a Christmas tree up this year. We actually have the room for one this year, and a perfect spot too. Our front dining/sitting room by the window so it can be seen from the street.

11. I can be a bit of a control freak. Even when going on long car drives, I insist on driving as I can't stand being a passenger, and can't sleep in the car either on long trips.

12. I love my mum, and still talk to her several times a day, as well as see her a few times a week. I don't know what I would do without her, or my dad for that matter. I see my dad a few times a week too. He goes to the shops on outings with me and J and Z which is such an immense help.

13. I can't wait until all the boxes are unpacked from our move. I'm longing for that completely settled in feeling at my new house.

14. I love getting mail delivered and checking the letter box. It's just a pity that it's usually a bill or something equally boring.

15. I have a bit of a shopping addiction. I can't help buying things, especially for J and Z. I've been known to come up with all kinds of reasons why we need things just so I can buy things. I got this lovely trait from my mum, she is just as bad!

Hope this hasn't been too boring.

I'm hopefully back more from my blogging break now that I am moved in and internet connected. Now I just have to make the time to blog regularly.

Time for bed now I think....
