I was given a copy of this book when Josh was quite small so I haven't pulled it out much until now. It's got some great ideas and recipes in it for cooking WITH children. This is something I really want to start doing with Josh. He is at an age where he is interested in everything in his little world and wants to get involved. I feel like I need to let him explore that a bit more and instead of being fussy in the kitchen which I am prone to do (just ask my husband!) I'm going to make a concerted effort to let him help me out more and to cook things together.
I remember baking cakes with my mother as a child, with the all-important bowl/spoon licking ritual at the end. I have fond memories of it and it would be nice to start creating memories with my own children in that regard.
I'm getting the ball rolling this afternoon by baking an easy chocolate cake from the Small Fry book with Josh. I'm sure it will go down a treat!
Anyway, as I start this little goal of mine, I thought I would offer a copy of the book to someone as my first giveaway, so to win, all you have to do is leave me a comment saying why you would love to win the book! Easy! Entries will close next Wednesday at 6pm and I'll announce the winner on Thursday morning.
I'll be back later to share photos of the baking if I'm brave enough!

Testing, testing :P
ReplyDeleteI would love a copy of this book - I really enjoy cooking up a storm for Zoe, so more recipes can only be a good thing :)
What a great idea for a book! My little one is a bit small for actually helping with cooking at the moment, but she does so enjoy sitting in her highchair in the kitchen and banging the bench with a wooden spoon while she watches me cook, so that's got to be a good start!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to being able to do stuff like this with her!
So cute! I will link to this now on my blog. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love a copy of this book to try with my own bub, as well as my niece and two nephews. Kids love to cook, and it's a great way to get them to try new foods.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win a copy of this book. My daughter is crazy about cooking. At 4 1/2, I call her my "little chef." The SECOND she hears me starting to prepare something in the kitchen, she runs in and says, "What are you doing? I want to help!" So cute. :)
ReplyDeleteLove your blog btw. I came here via Swish & Swanky.
my little man loves to help me cook so it would be great to get some inspiration.
ReplyDeletewhat a great give away.
My soon to be 3 year old LOVES trying to 'help' me cook! What a great giveaway! I'm always looking for new kid friendly recipes :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try out this book. My daughter is 4 and at the age where she wants to be more hands on in the kitchen. She is always asking to get up on the bench and help. I want to get her more involved but not sure how to start, and im hoping it will get her eating more!
ReplyDeleteI remember learning from a young age how to cook with my mum so i want to pass that on to my little miss as young as i can!
I would love to win this book as I really enjoyed the Small Fry Outdoors book when we borrowed it from the library. It had lots of great ideas and I am sure this one has too. Plus I need as much help in the kitchen as I can get!
ReplyDeleteEnjoying a look around your blog,

How great to be able to draw oin your own happy cooking memories as inspiration to create memories for your boy.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win the book because as I tell my husband in an effort to divert his attention from what I am serving up, "I am a lover not a cooker!". Cooking does not come easy to me so any help is much appreciated!
Just had a read through your blog (maybe should have done that first) and realised the giveaway is closed. Please forgive me!
ReplyDeleteThe chocolate cake making looked liek a great success!
